PELARGONIUM NOTES
There is nothing quite like discovery. The joy of understanding, uncovering, making connections, and being able to share, is, for me at least, what life is about. Travelling, researching, learning, reading, or even changing a tyre for the third time in three days or manoevering through sometimes very thorny veld resulting in painful bruises, is enjoyable in and of itself.

Pelargoniums embody a certain fascination that spans two interests that I have: heritage and botany. The smell, the feel and the colour of a zonal hybrid all have an immensely nostalgic connotation; having spent spring afternoons with my grandmother repotting 'geraniums'. The fact that there are close to 300 species in the wild, of all shapes and sizes, while we mainly only grow hybrids of a few, only adds to this fascination.

I have taken countless photographs on my travels and in the greenhouse, which I hope to share on this website.

With Andrej (on the right) we've been travelling together for more than 20 years, so the essential thanks go to him. Luckily, we share the passion for nature, culture, and the perfect marriage of both: good wine.
