PELARGONIUM NOTES
Erect to semi-decumbent subshrubs with subsucculent to succulent, rarely woody stems. Leaves simple, reniform, ovate or cordate, margins crenate or crenulate. Inflorescence is a pseudoumbel. Petals white, pink, mauve to purple, markings on all five or on anterior 3. Hypanthium 2-6x longer than sepals, base slightly thickened. Fertile stamens 6-7. Basic chromosome number, x = 11. Further characters, on which the species are separated into a section are pollen morphology and phenolic composition. P. christophoranum and P. vanderwaltii are added to the section here.
