Section Hoarea

Habit
Acaulescent geophyte, tuber elongated, roots branched. Sometimes more than one stem-growing point.


Leaves
Lamina elliptic to ovate, 90-180 x 40-80(110) mm, irregularly bipinnate, densely hirsute with distally appressed hairs and glandular hairs interspersed, segments linear, 5-12 mm wide, apices acute, margins serrate. Petiole 35-60 mm, stipules subulate, 13-20 x 2 mm, adnate to petiole with apices free.


Inflorescence
Scape, bearing 2-8 pseudo-umbellets, each 13-24(40)-flowered. Pedicel cca. 1 mm.


Sepals
5, lanceolate, apices acuminate, 6-8 x 1-2 mm, posterior erect, others recurved. Hypanthium 11-17 mm.

Petals
5, pale yellow or cream-coloured, claws orientated close together to form a sheath-like structure, posterior two with with red markings, ligulate, curved laterally, apices rounded, 9-11 x 2-3 mm, anterior three with markings only at the base, spathulate, 7-9.5 x 1-2 mm.

Stamens
2 fertile in anterior position, 8 mm long, protruding from the flower.
