Habit

Scandent, evergreen, poorly branched shrublet, up to 200 mm tall  in the open, and up to 800 mm tall when scrambling. Stems smooth, woody, glabrous, purplish red becoming greyish with age.

Leaves
Lamina ovate in outline, base cuneate, bi- to tripinnatifid, divided into linear segments, herbaceous, appearing glabrous but with microscopically barb-shaped hairs, bright green, 35-55(-80) x 30-50(-80) mm, segments linear, apices acute. Petiole 30-60(-90) mm long, stipules free, subulate.

Inflorescence
Scape terminal, branched, pseudo-umbels up to 5-flowered, peduncles 40-70 mm long. Pedicel more or less equal to hypanthium, 10-25(-35) mm.

Sepals
Narrowly ovate, adaxially concave, apices acuminate, microscopically hirsute, more or less flushed with purple, 9-11(-14) x 1.0-2.5 mm. 
Hypanthium 14-32 mm long. 

Petals
Petals 5, pink, occasionally white, posterior two obovate-spathulate with apices slightly retuse, 16-19 x 10-11 mm, gradually recurved to >90 deg, with wine-red markings near the base. Anterior three narrowly obovate, 14-17 x 4-5 mm, gradually recurved to ~45 deg, without markings. 

Stamens
5 fertile, 2 long, 2 shorter, 1 short.
